Description
The MHRA has approved the use of Botox for the management of severe hyperhidrosis of the axillae, which does not respond to topical treatment with antiperspirants or antihidrotics
In such case, Botox can be injected in grid-patterns to the affected area(s) to block nerve impulses from reaching the eccrine and apocrine glands, which secrete sweat from the body. This can be to sweat glands located in various areas around the body, such as underarms, hands, and feet.
The improvement of sweating is usually around 80%-100%, and should last between 6-12 months.
