Profhilo – Bio Stimulating & Remodelling

Profhilo is a unique injectable hyaluronic acid treatment, designed to boost skin hydration, support, tautness and elasticity. This clear, aqueous substance is a mix of high and low molecular weight, pure hyaluronic acid (HA), without the cross-linking chemicals found in hyaluronic acid-based dermal fillers.

When injected into the face, neck, décolletage, inner arms, thighs, or the backs of the hands, it spreads evenly throughout the skin. Unlike most hyaluronic acid injectables, Profhilo isn’t a dermal filler treatment per se, or even a simple “skin booster”; it’s a type of injectable described as a “bio remodelling” agent.

Although this treatment won’t change face shape or erase deep wrinkles, the benefits of the non-invasive Profhilo injections include subtle, long lasting improvement in overall skin quality and fewer fine lines, for smoother, firmer, brighter skin.

How Does It Work?

Our bodies naturally produce hyaluronic acid, which can hold up to 1,000 times its weight in water, but we gradually lose it with age. Similarly, collagen and elastin, the protein fibers that provide structure and elasticity to the skin, break down and their production slows over time.

Profhilo injections works by spreading water-binding hyaluronic acid below the surface of the skin like an “injectable moisturizer,”. The hyaluronic acid in Profhilo is very thin and disperses throughout the dermis, to provide more diffuse hydrating benefits without adding fullness or lifting the face, the way that fillers do.

The high concentration and diffusion of hyaluronic acid that Profhilo creates within the dermis triggers regenerative cells called fibroblasts to produce new collagen and elastin as well as preserving the health and vitality of the fat cells in the subcutaneous tissue. The result is greater skin support, diminished laxity, and improved suppleness that translates into plumper, more dewy, youthful skin. It is now classed as a ‘biostimulator’, something that kick starts significant renewal within the skin.

What Areas Can I Treat?

The procedure entails specific superficial injection points to the sides of the face or the area of the body being treated. For sensitive clients, this is usually administered after the numbing cream has taken effect.

Used to treat:

  • Sagging Skin >
  • Dull or Dry Skin >
  • Wrinkles >
  • Sunken Cheeks >
  • Aging Hands >
  • Body >
Botulinum Toxin

Can It Be Used in Combination With Other Treatments?

You can use Profhilo with other cosmetic treatments, but we advise no botulinum toxin for two weeks prior. No microdermabrasion, chemical peel, IPL: 1–2 weeks pre or post treatment. Avoid fractional resurfacing 4 weeks pre and post Profhilo treatment.

Frequently Asked Questions

Like other injectables, Profhilo is a relatively easy treatment that takes only about 15-30  minutes depending on the area of the face or body being treated. Profhilo is administered in a standard pattern of five injection points on each side of the face: in front of the ears, in the nasolabial folds, in the chin, under the eyes, and at the tops of the cheeks. Likewise, there are standard injection points for the neck, upper arms, and other areas of the body. These injection points are known as Bio-Aesthetic points (or BAP points), and the technique is known as the BAP Technique.

After each injection, you can expect a stinging sensation for up to 90 seconds as the substance integrates into the skin. No pain relief is usually required but sensitive clients do have the option of numbing cream or ice packs.

You’re able to return to your daily activities immediately afterward, but may have some bruising along with bumps at the injection site.

Profhilo can be used for the face, neck, decolletage and many other parts of the body including the hands and abdomen.

Profhilo is suitable for any skin type. Our medical practitioner will assess your needs, concerns and the various treatment options available to you. The suitability of each treatment will be discussed during your consultation and your practitioner will recommend what they feel is the best treatment for addressing your needs.

For best results, two to three sessions within a month (preferrably weekly) followed by 6 monthly top ups.

Profhilo hydrates skin and creates a healthy glow almost immediately. The full effects of new collagen and elastin develop about four to six weeks after the first treatment.

Profhilo is said to last in the skin for only about 28 days—far less time than traditional HA fillers. The body rapidly metabolizes the hyaluronic acid molecules, due to the lack of BDDE in the formula. However, you may see increased hydration for about three months, and a subtle improvement in firmness due to new collagen and elastin for up to six months after your initial treatment series. This will depend on lifestyle factors such as smoking and sun exposure.

This treatment is well tolerated with minimal pain.

No numbing cream or local anesthetic is recommended. The injection technique is so quick that it’s not worth waiting for the numbness to kick in, and topical anesthesia won’t do much for the below-the-surface sting. After each injection, you can expect a stinging sensation for up to 90 seconds as the substance integrates into the skin. Sensitive clients do still have the option of numbing cream or ice packs.

You’re able to return to your daily activities immediately afterward. However, bumps that resemble bee stings at the injection points are both common and normal, and they should subside within 24 hours, as the product spreads through the skin. As with other injectable treatments, mild bruising may occur after the procedure, too, but should go away within a few days.

Allergic reactions are also possible, as is swelling, particularly in the jowls.

We advise that you don’t plan treatments around important commitments and allow at least 2 weeks between treatment and an important social or work event. During an initial consultation, we discuss all of these potential side effects and whether this is the best treatment option for you.

No patch test is necessary.

Your treatment will be performed by one of our highly experienced medical dental practitioners that specialise in facial aesthetics treatments. You can rest assured that you are getting the highest standard of care and are in very safe hands.

It is important that you are available for follow-up after treatment, so we recommend not to book this treatment if you are travelling in the next two weeks.

The following should be avoided for a week after the session: Alcohol and anticoagulant medicines (also avoid 24hrs before the treatment)
